Context

Over the course of our projects, client requests reached us through many channels: emails, messages, phone calls… To make sure nothing gets lost and to give everyone better visibility, we built Leon Desk, our own request tracking tool.

A Custom Ruby on Rails Application

Leon Desk is a Ruby on Rails 8 web application that centralizes every request related to the apps and websites we support.

  • Clients, linked to their company, submit requests (bug, feature, question…) for each of their applications, follow their progress and reply to them
  • Leon Studio sees all requests, prioritizes them, updates their status (submitted, in progress, done, rejected) and flags those covered by maintenance
  • A discussion thread for each request, with a rich text editor and attachments
  • An “awaiting reply” marker to see at a glance where a response is expected
  • Email notifications for every new request, reply or status change

Security and Hosting

No public sign-up: users are invited by email and set their own password. Each client only has access to their company’s requests. The application is deployed with Kamal on Scaleway infrastructure hosted in France.
